Daily poetry from Brianna Dawn.

Crescendo

i turn up the volume, letting the beautiful lyrics
rinse the ugly in hope, when the chorus begins again
the crescendo pushes me upward, afloat
helping my tiny heart cope, she was singing for us
taking out her pain so that we could draw it within
like a breath taken softly from another person’s lips
in a tiny, warm kiss – i press the button, to repeat
a symphonic bliss, curling fingers around mine when
i felt slightly amiss, like a fleeting glance in time – i felt
your eyes stinging, reaching out to touch my shoulders
the music takes me back to this moment
even though we’re much older
