Poetry from Brianna Dawn.

what if the me in the mirror
were capable of looking back at me?
what would they see?
would we think the same thoughts
or would we take sides from each side of the mirror’s surface?
one focused on outward appearances,
fixating on the skin –
while the other perceives with their inner eye,
calculating motives and characteristics from within?
is my hesitation their pause?
does the other even have a heartbeat, can it live or die?
our reflections are one of the truths
we can manipulate to lie
