Poetry from Brianna Dawn.

muddy life jackets

i warmed up some hot chocolate
he started hissing at me
heated up, ready to throw a punch
i thought marshmallows would
soften the blow
so i pushed them in,
they floated, looking like
muddy life jackets having a meltdown
the sweetest, devastating situation
anyone would want to lap up
when i thought he had calmed down
and cooled off, i took a sip
but he bit like snake fangs, burning
my tongue, gums, mouth, and lips
all on fire – hot chocolate grinning
slipping me the finger

written by Tiny Fawns for daily prompt: devastation
