Tiny Fawns

Daily poetry from Brianna Dawn.

we use them anyway

use your words,
they say. but even
words wish they
weren’t manipulated
in such a way
to make one stay –
to sleep on someone’s
lies which cover up
yesterday’s mistakes;
instead of taking out
the knife, letting bleed out
the real truths, the real vulnerabilities
hidden in the breaths
we take quietly, and gulp down
into our stomaches, every day
