Poetry from Brianna Dawn.

gold & dirt

to have a face of gold
to be bold enough to let others
wrap it in the dusty coal of
dirty stories others have told —
to carry strength in spirit and hope
when others go to great lengths
with their tongues to spit and whine
over tiny mistakes, treat them like
offensive crimes —
to be gold in a world of dirt
is a slippery slope, and when the golden
fall, we tell them to deal with it, to cope
for they are all that glitters and shouldn’t
easily be hurt
