Poetry from Brianna Dawn.

weights and reasons

you hugged the weight of the world
a little too close to your heart
shoulders weaken, as the world
breaks, you think it’s yourself
that is falling apart, when the truth
of it all, is that you were never
blemished or at fault for the
collapsing walls and towers and
fears of others, yet you choose
to drown in your own tears
as you clutch at yourself as the reason
you couldn’t hold it all up,
it was never your fall to break
and it was never your break to take
so deeply into your heart
