The 13th Day

May 2017 – 31 Day Blog Challenge
Theme: Earliest Memory

I actually have a pocketful of memories from when I was as young as 3 years old. One of my favorites was of a time when my mom decided to have us move with my nana and pawpaw from Texas to good ol’ Tuscan, Arizona. This was back in the late ’80s. When we moved, we road tripped there and I remember sitting in the back seat with my two favorite hand puppets – one was a raccoon and one was a pig. The entire trip I put on a show, developing life stories for both puppets full of adventures across America. When cars would pass us in the lanes next to us, I would show the puppets in my window to entertain the other people driving by. I will never forget their laughter – they simply saw a tiny girl with puppets dancing in the backseat of some old car window but my grandparents and mom had the great fortune (but more than likely tiresome experience) of hearing all of the stories for hours on end.

As always, thank you for stopping by and reading.

I recently decided to participate in this challenge so that my followers and anyone who ventures into Tiny Fawns Land can have a clearer picture of who I am, what I do, etc etc.
I rarely if ever blog outside of poetry, so for you followers who follow me strictly for poetry, I hope you will be gracious for the month of May to see a daily update from me that is not poetry. 🙂 I will of course be continuing my daily updates of poetry in addition to this.

The 12th Day

May 2017 – 31 Day Blog Challenge
Theme: What’s in your fridge?

Vegetables: Assorted spinach and lettuce leaves, an onion, tomatoes, a bell pepper, carrots, sweet potatoes, an avocado.
Fruits: Fruit mix bowl of orange slices, grapes, strawberry slices, pineapple/cantaloupe/dew mellon chunks.
Meat: Sliced ham, Eggs
Dairy: Mild Cheddar Cheese
Condiments: Ranch dressing, Ketchup, Mustard

I mostly eat salads and bake various foods. Other foods I have I stored in my cabinet are bread for avocado toast in the morning, sardines canned in olive oil, assorted nut mix, Saltine crackers, tortillas, and a couple of packages of ramen for those days I just don’t feel like cooking. During the rainy season I try to have at least a week’s worth of food in case it rains for days and days on end and I can’t get to the store.

Theme: Best physical feature

My eyes. Depending on lighting and what eyeshadow I choose to wear, my eyes can either appear more brown or more golden/green. Perks of having hazel eyes.

The 9th Day

May 2017 – 31 Day Blog Challenge
Theme: Worst Habits

I think probably one of my worst habits is consistency. When I was swept up in depression the past couple of years, any sort of routine went out the window – that’s one of the reasons I started this writing journal – so that I could hold on to the spark of motivation I had one day and see if I could continue to keep it alight. So far, so good. So I wouldn’t say I have any “worst” habits, really – because once I decide to break or change something – I just … commit to doing it. But I will admit I do have a terrible addiction to soda pop. (Kind of keeping it short and sweet today because I really don’t want to write a wall of text on this kind of topic today.)

The 8th Day

May 2017 – 31 Day Blog Challenge
Theme: What’s in my handbag?

I usually don’t carry a handbag or purse, I carry a drawstring backpack since I find them more convenient for my work and hobbies. I tend to carry a “trash” journal – basically this is a cheap small journal I write all of my notes in for work and daily writings. Once I finish with it, I throw it away (usually the writings I write in it end up shared on here!) Additionally, I’ll carry a pouch with pens, pencils, highlighters … a small umbrella, wallet, keys, etc. A year or so ago I wouldn’t be caught without a makeup bag but now I just carry my hairbrush and chap stick for touching up during the day. Overall, nothing too intriguing, haha.

The 7th Day

May 2017 – 31 Day Blog Challenge
Theme: Pet Peeves

Real talk.

Honestly, my pet peeve is just internalized misplaced resentment I have against myself involving control/anger. I often encourage others to come to terms with what they consider flaws or negative characteristics about themselves because I truly believe those qualities of our shadow selves are meant to make us stronger and more compassionate empaths in our lives.

Yet I often to struggle to take my own medicine – at times if I find my patience running thin or something sets me off, I never express it externally – I always internalize it because I always push myself in the corner with the reason “all of your negative emotions are actually not directly caused by other people or things, but with how you choose to react or let go of those situations.” So I always hold it in and appear silent and unmoved on the outside even though my head is spinning faster and crazier than the hexagonal storm on Saturn’s north pole on the inside.

Don’t get me wrong, this is a great way to really choose one’s battles in life – in healthy moderation depending on each and every situation. I have been living and thinking this way since childhood. But as you know, there needs to be a balance between how much one chooses to internalize and externalize any source of negativity – and my balance is heavily polarized toward internalization – I will struggle, strive, rationalize, and reason every which way, method, and angle I can before I place blames on external factors – mostly to avoid ever having to paint someone in a negative light (look up the INFJ “Door Slam”).

But as I have grown older, I have become much more reasonable and forgiving of myself – I have always understood that yes, negativity can come from external influences and sometimes one just can’t help those situations – but I would always get down on myself because in my mind, I’m raking over ways I can try to guide or steer the situation in a direction that balances and comes to a positive resolve and if I cannot do that personally, I feel I have failed in my attempts to be a morally and ethically reliable individual.

So in brief, my pet peeve(s) center around the relationship between control/patience and how my internalization of everything negative occasionally warps and breaks down my ability to accept that a lot of the things in the world are simply out of my control and my lack of acceptance of this facts often lights the short fuse of my patience.
