sun’s bedroom

the sun’s bedroom,
full of stars – night lights
keeping the monsters
quiet in their corners
no wonder we seem alone
in the universe,
everything out of sight

lonely mirror

all these people
look into me,
but never too deeply;
they are all caught up
in their own reflections –
and yet when i look at them,
i can’t see me.

i wore sadness on my eyelashes, rain –
time walks clouds on leashes slowly –
he rose from his seat to greet me,
taking a tissue from his pocket.
dabbing my eyes with a golden sunlight,
kissing sadness from my eyes with
sunlight from his lips to
draw rainbows.

just the right warm

coffee, too hot to the touch
i wait, until it is just the right warm
for my fingertips,

it doesn’t burn too much
like my thoughts of you often do

the coffee was just the right warm
reminding me of the warmth
of your arm i would take

my palms pressed against
the fabric of your jacket
you were so warm, you
warmed up my heart

now, i try to remember
by holding warmth in
my hands, so we don’t feel
so far apart
